We're seeking an experienced Backend Architect to lead our architectural transformation from monolithic to microservices architecture.
You'll be instrumental in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems while guiding our engineering teams through complex technical migrations.
👉 Your Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Leadership: Design and implement microservices architecture patterns to strategically strangle our monolithic application, ensuring smooth transition with minimal business disruption
Identity & Security: Architect and implement OAuth2/OpenID Connect authentication flows, integrate with Identity Providers (IdP), and establish secure service-to-service communication patterns
Database Migration: Lead the migration strategy from MariaDB to PostgreSQL, including data modeling, performance optimization, and zero-downtime migration planning
Event-Driven Architecture: Design and implement event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, to support asynchronous business processes, ensuring reliable message delivery
Technical Mentorship: Guide development teams in Java/Spring best practices, micro-services patterns, and architectural decision-making
Standards & Governance: Establish architectural standards, API design guidelines, and technical documentation practices
8+ years of backend development experience with at least 3 years in architect role
Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Security)
Proven experience in monolith-to-microservices transformation using strangle the monolith pattern
Deep understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and modern IdP integration (Keycloak, Auth0, Okta, Gravitee, …)
Hands-on experience with database migration projects, specifically MariaDB to PostgreSQL and materialized view
Strong expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture patterns
Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms
Solid understanding of distributed systems, and consistency patterns
Nice to Have
Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design and hexagonal architecture
Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
