Job Description

Role Summary

  • Responsibilities: The Mid Foliage Artist respects and applies the art direction, provides timing guidelines, and verifies the required quality level for the Foliage. They ensure the Foliage are functional in game and liaise with other departments associated with the foliage team.

  • Team composition: 2 people (include the new mid foliage Artist)

  • Team work: With which team you will work mainly ? The Mid Foliage Artist will work with the (Senior Foliage Artist , Lead art 3D ,Art Director, Concept Artist, Character Artist, Narrative Designer, Game Designer, Tech Artist, Animation Team, Producer)

We are looking for a Mid Foliage Artist with experience (2-3 years) working on several completed games, strong knowledge of Unreal Engine (preferably version 5.0), SpeedTree, 3D skills (Blender is a plus), Zbrush, Substance Painter experience.

Houdini is a plus.

The the ability to listen and develop team members. The role requires collaboration with other departments involved in foliage integration.

Core Mandate (3 main missions)

  • Apply and enforce the design guidelines on all foliage, ensuring visual consistency and the required quality.

  • Make good modeling and textures. With the using of Speedtree and Zbrush

  • Ensure that the integration of the foliage into the engine works seamlessly with the tech and gameplay Team.

Success Criteria (What are we expecting from you in the next months)

  • High visual quality of the foliage, ensuring they are perfectly playable and integrated into the game.

  • Respect for the art direction

  • Respect for given production deadlines.

  • Good communication with the team and other departments.

Preferred Experience

Hard skills

  • Mandatory (if a candidate doesn’t have it in his/her background, the hiring process will not continue)

    • Knowledge of the Unreal Engine and the video game production pipeline.
    • At least 2 years of experience in the video game industry.
    • Knowledge of the SpeedTree pipeline. Zbrush or sculpting on Blender.
    • Must be able to learn Blender if they don't already know it natively.
    • Must be able to learn Houdini if they don't already know it natively.
  • Nice to have (if the candidate doesn’t have it, we can continue the hiring process)

    • Knowledge of Blender.
    • Knowledge of Nanite and Lumen.
    • Knowledge of Houdini

Recruitment Process

1. First conversation (20 min) by video call with Arthur (Recruiter): To learn more about your experience, your expectations and Novaquark

2. Hiring Manager interview (1 hour) with Emrah (Senior Foliage Artist) and Eric (Lead 3D Artist) To meet your future manager and to go deeper in our current context and the position itself

3. Technical Test (1 week) To assess your technical skills
